Chop Stick Challenge

The children had Chinese food for lunch today.  Along with the food, they got to try chop sticks and got a fortune cookie.  Preschool students had a lot of fun figuring out how to use chop sticks.  We gave them silver ware, but they preferred using the chopsticks.

If all else fails, just stab it.

Going Places

We are studying about "Going Places" for the next few weeks.  We have learned about different parts of the United States and talked a little about other countries.  Since it is a beautiful Friday, we decided to go camping.  Since you can't go on vacation without running into road construction, we also took some construction toys out.

The log cabin was made last year and painted by last year's children.  It is made of wrapping paper rolls.

Surprise Visit from Officer Anna

Sheriff Hanks, Deputy Walker, and Deputy Soper brought a special visitor to the preschool classroom this morning.  Police Dog Anna came to our classroom with them.  Her handler and partner, Deputy Walker, allowed the children to pet her.  We are so grateful to the Elk County Sheriff's Department for all they do and for sharing Anna with us today.

Squashing Squash

We viewed a DVD of a visit to the farm with Cool Puppy Pup (from our gardening grant curriculum) to see how squash is grown and harvested.  We had another another vegetable tasting.  The children got sliced rounds of yellow squash and could put a piece of cheese on it.  The morning class vote was that  twelve students liked the squash and two didn't like it.  Several asked for more squash.  The afternoon class decided that 8 liked the squash and two didn't.
