Parachute Counting

Children really got into counting when we got out the parachute. We put small beach balls on the parachute. The children would then count as we tried to see how long we could keep the balls on the parachute. We also put "Montgomery" bear on the parachute. He actually stayed on until the children counted to twenty two times. The longest the balls stayed on the parachute was to around the count of ten.

Children Name Classroom Fish

The classroom goldfish are over two years old and the children have given them names. Each class nominated names for a fish. The opposite class voted on the names submitted by the other class. Each child suggested a name. The suggestions ranged from Brittany Spears to BeBe Gardner. Several children thought the fish should have their names. The afternoon class voted to name the larger fish "Bob" and the morning class voted to name the smaller fish "Fish". "Fish" was nicknamed "Little Fish" by some of the children

Helpful Information

Pictures
I take digital pictures throughout the school year. If you would like for me to e-mail copies to you, please send me your e-mail address.

Messy Play
We sometimes get a little messy in preschool. We have the children wear paint shirts, but sometimes accidents still happen. The tempera paint is supposed to be washable but I sometimes find it difficult to get out of clothing. The sooner you pre-treat the better. Please don't send your child to school in something that you don't want paint on--accidents do happen. We have paint shirts for the children to wear, but we realize that some parents would rather their child not share the same shirt as others. If you would like your child to have his or her own shirt, just send an oversize shirt with your child's name on it. We will put that shirt on your child.

Dress for the Weather
We try to go outside for recess whenever possible. Please send a jacket when the weather is cool.

Extra Clothes
Please pack an extra change of clothes in your child's backpack. Even if a child is potty trained, he or she might spill something and want to change into something dry.

Birthday Parties
We celebrate birthdays at the end of the day. If you want to bring or send treats for your child's birthday, you can bring them at 10:45 for the AM Class or 3:00 for the PM class.

Welcome to Preschool

I am so happy to have your child in my classroom this year. Your child is beginning a whole new adventure in preschool. We try to make learning as fun and hands on as possible to get your child off to the best start.

I am a firm believer in the Conscious Discipline method of classroom management. We try to build a close classroom family so that the children feel safe and comfortable in the classroom. I also believe in active learning. We do lots of movement and music activities.

We are going to have a great year. Linda High and Cristen Bahr are returning as our paras again this year. They are both highly qualified and the children love them. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions or concerns. My school e-mail is montgomeryb@sktc.net or call me.

Always remember, family members are a child's first and most important teachers. You know your child better than anyone else does. That is why it is so important for us to work together as your child begins his or her school adventure. I really look forward to getting to know you and your child this year.
