Eating the Rainbow

We have been "eating the rainbow" in preschool.  As part of the Power Panther curriculum, we got a grant to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables for the children to try.  Today we had green fruits.  The children enjoyed these.  Grapes were their favorite.  The afternoon children liked the kiwi.  Next week, we will make individual pizza from biscuits.  The children will select their toppings and make their own pizzas.

Three Little Pigs

I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down!  You can't have a unit about families and homes without including The Three Little Pigs.  We have read a couple of different versions of the story and the children have acted it out.  We made pig ears and wolf ears.  The children put on their favorite character's ears.  It looks like the wolf is the favorite character in the story.

How big is your family?

We've been studying families and homes.  The children had a home work assignment for the family unit.  They took construction paper home, traced their families feet, and cut them out.  Today we sorted the feet from small to big and talked about families coming in different sizes.  We even had one family that had a doggie family member.   I overheard several children comment on how big daddy's feet are.

Future Architects

The children used Unit (wooden) blocks to build houses.  They then furnished the homes.  Some of the homes had arches of mirror and colored glass. Some of the children will make great architects, designers, and contractors in the future.

My Future Home

The children recycled materials and designed what their future homes would look like.  They painted them the next day.  We had some exciting and unusual homes designed by the children.
