The children learned that insects have three body parts, six legs, and two antennae and that arachnids have two body parts and eight legs. Even some of the adults learned that a tic is classified an arachnid (spiders are arachnids). As part of our insect unit, the children designed their own bug costumes. They decided if they were an insect or an arachnid. They had to select the color of their bug and decide how many body parts, legs, wings, and antennae they needed. They then got to paint and cut out legs for their costumes.
