Love Bugs

The preschool students completed their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) project today.  Following our unit on insects and arachnids, the students planned, designed, and made bug costumes.  They had to decide what type of insect or arachnid they wanted to be and what parts it would need.  They decided what color their bug would be and painted a paper grocery bag that color.  They cut out the correct number of legs (six for insect and eight for arachnid) and decided if they needed wings, fangs, or antennae.  The activity took several days to complete and the children were so proud of their bugs.

Smiling Sunflowers

After planting and growing sunflowers for a month, the children finally got to take them home.  The children predicted what they thought the sunflowers would look like after a month.  Most drew the sunflower with a flower on it.  We discovered that in a month, they didn't have a flower yet.  It takes time for flowers to grow.
