Future Volcanologists?

What happened to the dinosaurs?  No one really knows for sure.  We discussed some of the more popular theories.  One theory says that the volcanoes erupting put too much ash in the atmosphere and blocked out the warmth.  Since we talked about volcanoes, we decided to build working models of them.  We used salt dough molded around pill bottles to make them  and will use vinegar and baking soda to make them erupt.

Welcome to Jurassic Park

What goes together better than dinosaurs and trains?  Children love to play with both.  The afternoon children decided to make Jurassic Park in our train table.  (Mrs. Montgomery corrected the spelling on the banner since the photo was taken....oops!)

Dinosaur Invasion

Dinosaurs have invaded the preschool classroom.  The children have had lots of fun with dinosaur related activities.  We concluded the unit by making our own dinosaur fossils, being paleontologists, and making volcanoes.  Our volcanoes weren't quite dry at the time of the post so we will erupt them next week.

Paper plate dinosaurs.  Great cutting skills!

Name-a-saurus.  The children made stegosauruses with the letters
from the children's names on their back plates.

Fossil making can be fun but it can get messy.
