The preschool students made gingerbread men and handed them out as they went caroling in the district office, kitchen, and elementary office. They really enjoyed getting to sing Rudolph, Jingle Bells, and We Wish you a Merry Christmas.

Mmmm......Ginger Bread
The week before Christmas, the children have been studying about baking and gingerbread. We have read several different versions of the Gingerbread Man. We've read the Gingerbread Girl, Gingerbread Cowboy, Gingerbread Man, and Gingerbread Friends. We've done activities about gingerbread including taking a bite of a gingerbread man and then recording what part they bit into first and drawing a picture of what was left after they tasted it. We have a Gingerbread house in our classroom that the children can go in to read. Reading has become very popular this week if it means getting to sit in the house. We went caroling around the school today and handed out gingerbread ornaments that the children made. The children attached a tag to the ornament that explained the history of gingerbread. (Afternoon pictures will be attached this evening).

Bread and Butter
The preschool students have been learning about the letter B. Today, they made home made bread and butter. The bread and butter will be their snack tomorrow. We made the bread in a gallon freezer bag. You don't have any messy dishes this way--just throw the dirty bag away. We made the bread with whole wheat flour instead of white flour and it smells so good in our room. The children should bring the recipe home today.
